Blythe transported his listeners back to 2011 when he was tasked with transforming Google’s unattractive and old-fashioned graphical user interface (GUI) on the mobile experience into a more modern, beautiful and inviting one. In accomplishing this, Blythe’s efforts were recognized by persons both within and outside of Google as being in a class way above the competition.
“Our vice presidents would say our mission is to influence 50% of the world’s transactions,” he said, in a Rotary Club of St. Andrew North meeting at Altamont Court Hotel in New Kingston. Pointing his listeners to the importance of the word ‘influence,' he affirmed that he and his team work assiduously toward their mission.
Blythe, who was the guest speaker for the evening, presented about his Life at Google Shopping in the role of Principal UX Designer / Manager. Google Shopping is a Google online service where users search for their desired products and complete the purchase should they so choose.
