Back to School Project - September 2018
The Rotary Club of St. Andrew North is focused on the development of childhood education as a part of our Rotary International motto “Service Above Self”.
Mel Nathan Primary School started operations in 1994 through a human and community development agency of the United Church of Jamaica and Cayman Islands. The school has achieved GSAT passes in excess of 90% each year, however continues to face severe financial challenges due to the low economic status of the parents as school fees remain in arrears and they are unable to purchase basic school supplies. As a result, the Ministry of Education has made the decision that in order for Mel Nathan to remain viable, it will merge with Chetolah Park Primary School for the new term commencing September 2018 under the name Chetolah Mel Nathan Education Centre.
September is the month where Rotarians place emphasis on the value of basic education, literacy and our young generation.
